Woburn Golf Club, Little Brickhill, Milton Keynes, England

Set on the historic Woburn Estate near Milton Keynes, Woburn Golf Club is one of England’s premier multi-course golf venues. The club is home to three championship courses — the Duke’s, Duchess and Marquess — each with its own character, woodland setting and tournament pedigree. Woburn has hosted 60 professional tournaments across its three courses and is widely regarded as one of the UK’s strongest 54-hole golf destinations.

The Duke’s Course was designed by Charles Lawrie and opened in 1976. Measuring 6,971 yards, it is a par-72 layout lined with pine, silver birch and chestnut trees, with heather, bracken and gorse adding natural definition and challenge.

The Duchess Course, also designed by Charles Lawrie, opened in 1978 and is often seen as the most exacting of the three. Narrow fairways, tight approaches and the need for accurate driving make it a proper thinking golfer’s course, despite being slightly shorter than the Duke’s and Marquess.

The Marquess Course opened in 2000 and was designed by Peter Alliss, Clive Clark, European Golf Design and Alex Hay. Set within 200 acres of mixed woodland, it stretches to more than 7,200 yards from the back tees and offers a more modern championship test, with rolling terrain, strategic landing areas and a strong finish.

Facilities include excellent practice areas, including the Tavistock Short Game Area, plus a clubhouse known for strong hospitality. For UK golfers, Woburn is ideal for a premium golf break, society day or corporate golf event, with easy access from London, the Midlands and the Home Counties.

About The Area

Towcester is a very useful Northamptonshire golf base, especially for groups who want golf, motorsport and countryside in one trip. The standout golf option is Whittlebury Park, near Towcester, which offers 36 holes across four interchangeable 9-hole loops, plus a Toptracer driving range and practice facilities. It is one of the stronger stay-and-play style choices in the area because the golf, hotel, spa and food options are all built around one site.

The big non-golf hook is Silverstone, just outside Towcester. Silverstone Museum focuses on F1, motor racing and motorsport history, with interactive exhibitions, simulators and events, while Silverstone Circuit itself is promoted as the home of the British Grand Prix and MotoGP events. That makes Towcester a cracking choice for golf groups where a motorsport day would go down well.

There is more locally too. Towcester Racecourse is a multi-purpose racing and entertainment venue set in hundreds of acres of Northamptonshire countryside, while the town itself has market-town character and useful access to Northampton, Milton Keynes and the wider county.

For Hashtag Golf Travel customers, Towcester works best as a golf-and-motorsport break, a society trip, or a relaxed Northamptonshire stay with Whittlebury Park, Silverstone and countryside activities built around the golf.
