Shrigley Hall Hotel & Spa
Macclesfield
Shrigley Hall Hotel & Spa is a four-star country-house hotel in Cheshire, set within 262 acres of grounds on the edge of the Peak District. Combining comfortable accommodation, an impressive spa and an 18-hole championship golf course, it is particularly well suited to couples, societies and larger groups looking for a relaxed stay-and-play golf break within easy reach of Manchester.
The hotel offers around 155 bedrooms across a wide range of categories, including classic doubles and twins, family rooms, deluxe rooms, feature rooms and spacious suites. This variety makes Shrigley Hall particularly practical for golf groups, with twin-sharing options available alongside upgraded accommodation for guests wanting a little more space and comfort.
One of the resort's standout features is BAZAAR Spa, housed partly within a converted former chapel. Facilities include an outdoor infinity pool, indoor pool, thermal experiences, tepidarium, steam facilities and treatment rooms. Spa access is not automatically included with standard hotel stays, so it should be booked separately unless included within a specific golf or spa package.
Dining centres on the Oakridge Restaurant, with lunch and evening menus available, while the Courtyard Bar provides a more relaxed setting for drinks and lighter food. Golfers also have access to the Golf Lodge beside the course, where casual dining, drinks and a terrace overlooking the closing hole make it an ideal post-round spot.
Golf is available directly on the estate. The 18-hole, par-71 Shrigley Hall Golf Course was designed by Donald Steel and measures 6,189 yards, moving through woodland and open parkland with streams, ponds and elevation changes creating the challenge. Residential golf packages can combine accommodation with dinner, breakfast and multiple rounds, making the hotel easy to package for a dedicated Cheshire golf break.
We recommend Shrigley Hall for golf groups wanting championship golf, spa facilities and plenty of character in one countryside resort. Manchester is close enough for an evening or day trip, while the Peak District provides excellent walking and sightseeing for guests staying longer.

About The Area
Wilmslow is a very convenient Cheshire base for a golf break, especially for golfers who want good courses, smart restaurants, countryside and fast airport access. With Manchester Airport only a few miles away, it works particularly well for groups flying in, short UK breaks, or North West itineraries that need a polished but practical place to stay.
The main local course is The Wilmslow Golf Club, founded in 1889 and described by the club as a 6,639-yard, par-72 James Braid design in Cheshire countryside. It accepts individual and group visitor bookings, which makes it useful for golf breaks and society trips.
For extra golf nearby, Alderley Edge Golf Club gives another strong local option, while the wider Cheshire area opens up courses around Knutsford, Macclesfield, Stockport and south Manchester. This means Wilmslow can work either as a single-course stop or as a comfortable base for two or three rounds.
Away from golf, Quarry Bank in nearby Styal is the big local highlight. The National Trust describes it as one of Britain’s great industrial heritage sites, with a working mill, gardens and surrounding countryside. Wilmslow itself also has a strong town-centre feel, with restaurants, bars, shops and easy access to Alderley Edge, Tatton Park and Manchester.
For Hashtag Golf Travel customers, Wilmslow works best as a Cheshire golf weekend, an airport-friendly golf stop, or a smart North West short break with golf, heritage, food and countryside all close together.
