Wychwood Park Golf Club

Crewe

average rating is 3 out of 5

Wychwood Park Golf Club is a challenging 18-hole championship course near Crewe in Cheshire, set across rolling countryside with lakes, streams, bunkers and protected wildlife areas shaping the layout. Built to European PGA Tour standards, it is a strong choice for golf groups looking for a testing round combined with the convenience of an on-site hotel and straightforward access from the M6.

The par-72 course stretches to approximately 7,200 yards from the championship tees and opened in 2002. Large greens and teeing areas were constructed to USGA specifications, while multiple tee positions allow golfers to choose a course length better suited to their ability. Wychwood Park has also introduced its own handicap and driving-distance-based tee system, helping mixed-handicap groups choose an appropriate challenge rather than relying on traditional coloured tees.

This is a course where water is never far from the golfer’s thoughts. Numerous lakes and streams combine with deep bunkering and undulating ground to reward accurate driving and sensible course management. At its full length, several par fours demand two strong shots, including the 484-yard 4th, while the par fives provide opportunities to attack for players who find the fairway. The closing 18th is a 569-yard par five from the back tees, giving golfers one final chance to finish the round in style.

Practice and golf facilities include a grass practice area, driving range access, professional coaching, a fully stocked Pro Shop and a fleet of 20 golf buggies. The Claret Jug clubhouse overlooks the course and provides food and drinks before or after a round.

The adjoining Wychwood Park Hotel makes the club particularly convenient for a Cheshire stay-and-play break. Golf packages combine accommodation, dinner, breakfast and multiple rounds, meaning groups can settle in without arranging transfers between the hotel and first tee.

We recommend Wychwood Park for golfers who enjoy modern championship golf, plenty of water hazards and a course where choosing the correct tee makes a real difference. It is especially well suited to societies and mixed-handicap groups looking for an easy golf break in the North West.
