PGA National Croatia at Golf Club Adriatic

Savudrija

average rating is 5 out of 5

PGA National Croatia at Golf Club Adriatic is a superb choice for golfers looking for a Croatia golf holiday with championship golf, sea views and a slightly different feel from the usual Spain or Portugal break. Located in Savudrija, on the north-western tip of Istria, the course sits close to the Adriatic Sea and works brilliantly as part of a relaxed coastal stay near Umag, Portorož and the wider Istrian region.

Opened in 2009, Golf Club Adriatic is an 18-hole, par-72 championship course measuring 6,360 metres and spread across 80 hectares. Designed by Diethard Fahrenleitner and Barbara Eisserer, it joined the PGA National branded properties portfolio in 2023, giving it extra international credibility for travelling golfers.

The course blends naturally into the Mediterranean landscape, with rolling fairways, rocks, ponds, evergreen vegetation, strategic bunkers and well-shaped greens. It is not simply about length, either. Coastal winds can change the way holes play, while five tee positions make it suitable for different handicaps, from confident low-handicap golfers to holiday golfers wanting an enjoyable but proper test.

For a golf break in Croatia, PGA National Croatia gives you something memorable: modern championship golf, warm Adriatic scenery and easy access to stylish resort accommodation nearby. It is ideal for couples, small groups and golfers who want to combine quality golf with great food, coastal towns and a quieter European golf destination.

About The Area

Pula is one of Croatia’s most characterful coastal bases, combining Roman history, Adriatic beaches and easy access to the Brijuni Islands. It is not a high-density golf hub, but it works well for golfers who want a wider holiday: a bit of golf, a bit of culture, plenty of coast and some lovely Istrian food and wine.

The closest golf experience is Brijuni Golf Course, set within Brijuni National Park just offshore from Fažana, a short trip from Pula. Golf has been played on Brijuni since 1922, and the national park describes it as a unique place to play, with deer, mouflons, rabbits and peacocks often part of the scenery. It is not a glossy modern resort course, but that is exactly its charm: historic, natural and completely different from the standard Mediterranean golf setup.

For a more conventional championship-style round, Golf Adriatic | PGA National Croatia in Savudrija is the stronger Istrian option. Opened in 2009, it is an 18-hole, par-72 course measuring 6,360 metres, with sea views, bunkers, shaped greens and wind as a proper factor. It is further from Pula, so it works better as a full-day golf excursion or part of a wider Istria itinerary.

Golf around Pula is best from spring to autumn, with May, June, September and early October especially appealing for warm weather without peak summer heat.

Off the course, Pula has loads to offer. The Pula Arena is one of the city’s standout sights and is promoted as one of the world’s best-preserved Roman monuments. Brijuni National Park is another major draw, with protected islands, coastline, nature and boat trips from nearby Fažana.

For golfers seeking a relaxed Croatian coastal base with history, beaches, island trips and a distinctive nearby golf experience, Pula is a very useful and atmospheric Istrian destination.
