St. Sofia Golf & Spa
Rawno Pole
St. Sofia Golf & Spa is a convenient stay-and-play resort for a golf holiday near Sofia, combining on-site championship golf with comfortable accommodation, extensive spa facilities and restaurants in one peaceful countryside setting. Located at Ravno Pole, the resort is around 20 minutes from central Sofia and approximately 13 kilometres from Sofia Airport, making it particularly well suited to a short golf break in Bulgaria.
Accommodation includes 77 rooms and five apartments, ranging from Classic and Premium rooms to larger designer apartments and suites. Premium rooms offer around 27 square metres of space, while the larger apartments extend to approximately 50 square metres. We particularly like St. Sofia for golf groups who want everything close together without giving up the option of spending an evening exploring Sofia.
The resort’s major non-golf attraction is its spa and wellness centre. Facilities include a 25-metre swimming pool, Finnish and aroma saunas, steam bath, Jacuzzi, relaxation areas and warm outdoor mineral-water pools. Massages and body treatments are also available, making the spa an ideal place to recover after 18 holes.
Dining is spread across two restaurants and a lobby bar. Ritorno offers relaxed à la carte dining with indoor and outdoor seating, while the larger Eagle restaurant provides another option for meals and group events.
Golfers have the 18-hole St. Sofia Golf Club directly on-site. Established in 2004 and later redesigned by Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley, the course provides convenient championship golf without any daily transfers.
For us, St. Sofia Golf & Spa works best for golfers wanting an easy Bulgaria golf holiday where the course, hotel, spa and dining are all on the doorstep, while the restaurants, nightlife and historic sights of Sofia remain close enough for an evening out.

About The Area
Rawno Pole, more commonly written as Ravno Pole, is a quiet village east of Sofia and a useful golf base for travellers who want to stay close to Bulgaria’s capital while enjoying a more peaceful countryside setting. It is not a big resort town, but its value is simple: easy Sofia access, open rural views and one of Bulgaria’s most established golf venues on the doorstep.
The main golf venue is St. Sofia Golf Club & SPA, located in Ravno Pole. The club describes itself as being just 20 minutes from the centre of Sofia, giving it a strong location for golfers who want a short transfer rather than a remote resort stay. It has been part of Bulgaria’s golf scene since 2004, and the club positions itself as one of the country’s leading golf venues and an important part of Bulgaria’s modern golf culture.
The course is an 18-hole, par-71 layout set across relatively flat parkland countryside. Where2Golf notes that the course combines open and tree-lined holes, is easy to walk, and was redesigned by Paul McGinley in 2012. Top100GolfCourses also describes the layout as being built around lakes, with many holes on both nines routed close to water, so approach play and course management matter more than simply hitting it long.
Golf here is best from spring to autumn, with late spring and early autumn especially appealing for comfortable temperatures and easier walking conditions. The course also works well for mixed-ability groups because it is not overly severe, while still offering enough water, bunkering and positioning challenges to keep stronger golfers interested.
Off the course, Ravno Pole’s main advantage is its proximity to Sofia. Golfers can easily combine rounds with Sofia’s restaurants, bars, churches, museums and mountain views towards Vitosha. The club itself also has hotel, spa and lifestyle facilities, making it suitable for short stays, corporate groups or a relaxed golf-and-city break.
For golfers seeking convenient Bulgaria golf, easy Sofia access and a calmer countryside alternative to staying in the city centre, Rawno Pole is a practical and quietly useful golf destination.
