Thracian Cliffs Golf & Beach Resort
Kavarna
Thracian Cliffs Golf & Beach Resort occupies a spectacular position on Bulgaria’s northern Black Sea coast, combining dramatic clifftop scenery with spacious accommodation, two private beaches and one of the country’s most celebrated golf courses. Located near Kavarna and Cape Kaliakra, it is an excellent choice for golfers who want their holiday to offer just as much away from the fairways as it does on them.
Rather than a traditional hotel, accommodation is arranged across two attractive resort villages. Marina Village sits close to the waterfront and forms the livelier heart of the resort, with restaurants, bars, spa facilities and reception nearby. Hillside Village sits slightly higher above the coast, offering a quieter atmosphere and panoramic views across the Black Sea, lake and golf course. Residences range from one to three bedrooms and feature generous living areas, kitchenettes and terraces, making them particularly useful for golf groups sharing accommodation.
Away from golf, Thracian Cliffs has four infinity pools and two secluded beaches, Argata and Bendida. Both sit beneath the cliffs in sheltered bays, with beachfront dining, sunbeds and cabanas creating an excellent setting for a rest day. The Thracian Spa adds a hammam, steam bath, infrared sauna, Jacuzzi, fitness area and a range of massages and treatments – including sports massage for post-round recovery.
Dining is another strong point, with six venues ranging from relaxed clubhouse food to seafood beside the beach and panoramic dining overlooking the Black Sea. The resort’s layout is quite spread out and hilly, so the complimentary internal transport and beach shuttles are useful when moving between accommodation and facilities.
Golfers have the spectacular Gary Player-designed Thracian Cliffs course on site, while BlackSeaRama Golf and Lighthouse Golf & Spa Resort are both around 5 km away, making it easy to create a three-course Bulgarian golf holiday. Verified golf travellers particularly praise the spacious accommodation and remarkable location, making Thracian Cliffs a strong choice for couples and groups looking for golf, beaches and relaxation in one memorable resort.

About The Area
Kavarna is one of Bulgaria’s strongest golf destinations, sitting on the rugged Northern Black Sea Coast close to Cape Kaliakra. It works especially well for golfers because three of the country’s best-known courses sit within a compact coastal area: Thracian Cliffs, BlackSeaRama and Lighthouse Golf & Spa Resort.
The headline venue is Thracian Cliffs Golf & Beach Resort, located near Kavarna. Its 18-hole Gary Player Signature course is carved into dramatic coastal cliffs, with the resort describing it as one of the most scenic courses on earth. The course opened in 2011 and is famous for Black Sea views from every hole, steep elevation changes and memorable cliff-edge shot-making.
Nearby, BlackSeaRama Golf & Villas offers another Gary Player design and was Bulgaria’s first championship signature golf course. Set around 200 metres above sea level, it gives golfers sweeping views across the Black Sea from Cape Kaliakra towards Cape Galata. Lighthouse Golf & Spa Resort, designed by Ian Woosnam, adds a more resort-style option nearby, making Kavarna a proper multi-course base rather than a one-round stop.
Golf around Kavarna is best from spring to autumn, with May, June, September and early October especially appealing for warm weather without the strongest summer heat. Coastal wind is part of the challenge, so controlled ball flight and smart club selection matter.
Off the course, Kavarna is all about sea views, cliffs and quieter coastal exploring. The town sits on a rocky shore around 63km north-east of Varna, with a coastline stretching over 40km. Cape Kaliakra is one of the region’s standout sights, jutting dramatically into the Black Sea close to Kavarna. Balchik, Varna and the northern coast’s beaches and restaurants are all easy additions.
For golfers seeking dramatic sea-view courses, resort comfort and one of Eastern Europe’s most memorable golf clusters, Kavarna is one of Bulgaria’s standout golf holiday bases.
