Golf de L’Empereur is a peaceful 27-hole golf destination in the countryside near Genappe, around 20 minutes south of Brussels. Surrounded by rolling hills, mature woodland and protected natural areas, the club feels wonderfully secluded despite its convenient location, making it an excellent addition to a golf holiday in Belgium.

The main L’Empereur Course is an 18-hole, par-72 layout measuring 6,201 metres. Created by Marcel Vercruyse and opened in 1991, it makes excellent use of the naturally undulating landscape. Elevation changes, tree-lined fairways, carefully positioned bunkers and changing lies mean golfers need to think their way around rather than simply rely on distance. The peaceful setting is a big part of the appeal, with the course flowing through open countryside and pockets of established woodland.

Golfers can also play La Hutte, a nine-hole, par-31 course measuring 1,650 metres. It is ideal for a shorter additional round, beginners or anyone wanting to sharpen their short game. Practice facilities include a driving range and putting green, while equipment and buggy hire are also available.

The clubhouse occupies a beautifully restored 18th-century farmhouse, giving the club plenty of traditional Belgian character. There is also a restaurant for post-round food and drinks, plus the on-site Le Relais de l’Empereur, which offers accommodation directly beside the course and makes stay-and-play breaks particularly straightforward.
