Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club
Orlando
Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club offers UK golfers the rare opportunity to stay and play at one of the PGA TOUR’s most recognisable venues. Located beside the Butler Chain of Lakes near Orlando, Bay Hill combines championship pedigree with Arnold Palmer’s enduring influence on the game.
The original course was designed by Dick Wilson in 1961 before being refined over several decades by Palmer. Its principal 18-hole layout combines the Champion and Challenger nines, while the additional Charger nine provides a more relaxed alternative. During the 2026 Arnold Palmer Invitational, the championship course played as a formidable par 72 measuring 7,466 yards.
Bay Hill is a classic Florida parkland test where water influences play on most holes. Strong driving is important, but success also depends on accurate approaches and confident play around firm, well-protected greens. The relatively level terrain can appear straightforward; however, strategically positioned bunkers, lakes and changing wind conditions make mistakes costly.
The closing stretch is particularly memorable. The par-five 16th presents an exciting risk-and-reward opportunity beside the water, followed by a demanding par three and the famous finishing hole. At the 18th, the approach must negotiate water guarding the left side and front of the green—a shot that regularly shapes the outcome of the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Bay Hill is a private club, but registered guests staying at the on-site Lodge receive access to the golf courses and club facilities. This makes a stay-and-play package the practical way for visiting golfers to experience the venue. With extensive practice facilities and the Arnold Palmer Golf Academy also on site, it is an excellent centrepiece for an Orlando golf holiday.
