Turtle Point Golf Course

Kiawah Island

average rating is 4 out of 5

Turtle Point Golf Course is a fantastic addition to a Kiawah Island golf holiday, especially for UK golfers planning a luxury South Carolina trip with several standout rounds in one place. Part of Kiawah Island Golf Resort, Turtle Point gives you a slightly more understated test than the famous Ocean Course, but it is still a proper championship layout that rewards accuracy, patience and good course management.

Designed by Jack Nicklaus, Turtle Point is a par-72 course stretching up to 7,062 yards from the tips. The layout has a parkland-meets-seaside feel, moving through maritime forest, salt marshes and coastal dunes, with three memorable oceanfront holes adding that special Kiawah Island scenery.

This is not a course where you simply hit driver everywhere. Nicklaus Design notes that the greens are small, the course asks players to shape shots both ways, and the best angles often come from finding specific landing areas rather than just chasing distance. Wind is another major factor, sometimes hidden by the trees, so local knowledge and sensible club selection really matter.

The 14th, 15th and 16th holes bring the Atlantic Ocean into the round, with the par-4 15th often seen as the signature hole thanks to its duneside setting and punchbowl-style green.

For a USA golf holiday, Turtle Point works brilliantly alongside Kiawah’s Ocean Course, Osprey Point, Cougar Point and Oak Point. It offers scenic resort golf, strong playing variety and an excellent reason to make Kiawah Island more than a one-course stop.
