About The Area
Lake Geneva is one of Switzerland’s most elegant golf settings, combining polished courses, vineyard terraces, lakeside towns and Alpine views. It suits golfers who want a refined European break rather than a pure resort holiday, with Geneva, Lausanne, Vevey and Montreux all offering strong bases around the shoreline.
The golf here is varied, with courses spread between the lake, countryside and surrounding hills. Switzerland Tourism describes the Lake Geneva region as offering golf in the mountains, by the lake and in the countryside, with each club giving different views and playing styles. One of the leading venues is Golf Club de Genève, an 18-hole championship course in Vandoeuvres. The club says the course was originally built in 1973 by Robert Trent Jones Senior and renovated between 2016 and 2018 to a Robert Trent Jones Junior plan. It sits above the city with views towards Lake Geneva, the Alps and Mont Blanc, giving it real big-occasion appeal.
Further along the lake, Golf de Lavaux is another excellent option, set between Lausanne and Montreux close to the Lavaux vineyards. The course was designed by Peter Harradine and opened in 1999, with an 18-hole layout that suits a range of golfers while still offering plenty of strategy. The setting is a major part of the appeal, with views over Lake Geneva, the vineyards and the Alps.
Golf around Lake Geneva is best from April to October, especially May to September when temperatures are comfortable and the days are longer. Off the course, this is a brilliant region for boat trips, lakeside restaurants, wine tasting in Lavaux, historic towns and day trips between Geneva, Lausanne and Montreux.
For golfers seeking Swiss-quality courses, lake views, culture and wine-country charm, Lake Geneva delivers one of Switzerland’s most stylish and well-rounded golf escapes.
