Camp de Golf d'El Saler
Valencia
Set along the beautiful Mediterranean coastline just south of Valencia, Camp de Golf d'El Saler is one of Spain's most celebrated championship golf courses and a fantastic destination for an unforgettable golf holiday on the Costa de Valencia. Nestled within the protected Albufera Natural Park, this spectacular course combines traditional links-style golf with beautiful Mediterranean woodland, towering sand dunes and breathtaking coastal scenery. With its rich golfing heritage and challenging layout, El Saler is a must-play for golfers visiting eastern Spain.
Designed by legendary Spanish golf architect Javier Arana and opened in 1968, the 18-hole, par-72 championship course stretches approximately 6,357 metres from the back tees. The layout makes exceptional use of its natural surroundings, blending exposed seaside fairways with sheltered holes winding through mature pine forests. This distinctive combination creates a wonderfully varied golfing experience, with coastal winds, strategically positioned bunkers and large undulating greens providing a demanding but rewarding challenge.
One of the standout features of El Saler is its remarkable collection of natural sand dunes, which have been carefully incorporated into the course design. Wide fairways offer tempting opportunities for confident driving, although cleverly positioned hazards and challenging green complexes mean accuracy and thoughtful course management are essential. The Mediterranean breeze can dramatically influence playing conditions, ensuring that no two rounds are quite the same.
El Saler also boasts an impressive championship pedigree, having hosted several editions of the Spanish Open and other prestigious professional tournaments. Its classic design and spectacular coastal setting have earned it international recognition as one of Europe's outstanding golf courses, making it particularly appealing to experienced golfers seeking a traditional championship challenge.
Away from the fairways, golfers can take advantage of excellent practice facilities, including a driving range, three putting greens, two approach greens and a professional golf academy. The welcoming clubhouse offers a golf shop, restaurant and bar, while rental clubs, trolleys and buggies are available for visiting golfers.
The adjoining Parador de El Saler provides comfortable four-star accommodation, excellent dining and relaxing spa facilities, making it an ideal choice for a stay-and-play golf holiday. Valencia city centre is also just a short drive away, offering fantastic restaurants, historic attractions, vibrant markets and beautiful Mediterranean beaches.
At Hashtag Golf Travel, we highly recommend Camp de Golf d'El Saler for couples, golf societies and groups seeking an exceptional golf holiday in Valencia. With its outstanding Javier Arana design, spectacular coastal scenery and unique blend of links and parkland golf, it's a fantastic destination for combining championship golf with Spanish sunshine, culture and Mediterranean hospitality.

About The Area
Sant Jordi is a quiet inland village in northern Castellón, close to the Costa Azahar coastline. It works well for golfers who want a peaceful base with easy access to beaches, small towns and a proper golf-focused resort setting. Castellón Tourism describes Sant Jordi as being around 12 km from Vinaròs and only around 8 minutes from the beaches of the Costa Azahar, so it gives you a nice mix of countryside calm and coastal access.
The main golf draw is Panorámica Golf, Sport & Resort, located in Sant Jordi. Opened in 1995, the course is set among olive and carob trees and is especially notable because it is the only golf course in Spain designed by Bernhard Langer. The official course information describes it as one of the best courses in Spain, while booking/course listings put the layout at 18 holes, par 72, measuring around 6,330–6,429 metres depending on tee/source reference.
For a golf holiday, Sant Jordi is best treated as a stay-and-play or quiet Costa Azahar base rather than a lively resort town. The course gives golfers the main reason to stay locally, while nearby Vinaròs, Benicarló and Peñíscola add beaches, seafood, old-town wandering and evening options. It is also useful for travellers who want something less obvious than the Costa del Sol or Alicante golf areas.
For Hashtag Golf Travel customers, Sant Jordi works best as a relaxed Spain golf escape, a value-led Costa Azahar break, or part of a wider Valencia/Castellón itinerary. It is not the place for big nightlife, but for peaceful surroundings, good golf, beaches nearby and a quieter Spanish feel, it fits nicely.
