Oliva Nova Golf Club is a distinctive Costa Blanca course that combines a Seve Ballesteros design with Mediterranean scenery and the convenience of a full beach and golf resort. Designed by Severiano Ballesteros in 1995, the 18-hole, par-72 course measures 6,312 metres and covers around 50 hectares. Ballesteros created a layout with wide fairways and gently contoured greens, but water hazards play a major role in the strategy. From the tee, the course can look generous, yet choosing the correct line is important if you want a straightforward approach into the greens.

What we particularly like about Oliva Nova is that it is enjoyable for a broad range of handicaps. The relatively flat terrain makes it comfortable to walk, while the width of many fairways gives holiday golfers a little breathing space. Better players, however, will quickly find that Ballesteros has given them plenty to think about. Water, bunkering and pin positions can all influence whether it is worth attacking or playing more conservatively.

The Mediterranean setting is another big part of the experience. You are never far from the coast, and the open nature of the site means wind can add a completely different challenge from one round to the next. It is the type of course where scoring well is often more about sensible decisions than simply hitting the ball a long way.

Practice facilities are excellent. The driving range has 25 practice mats, while a separate grass teeing area can accommodate around 40 players with their professionals. There is also a large putting green, bunker practice area and a five-hole par-3 Pitch & Putt course, with holes ranging from approximately 50 to 90 metres.

The substantial 3,000m² clubhouse overlooks several holes and includes a Pro Shop, changing rooms, club storage, buggy parking, restaurant, café and social areas. Its elevated position gives excellent views across the course, making it an easy place to stay for lunch or a drink after your round.
