DoubleTree by Hilton Islantilla Beach Golf Resort
Isla Cristina
DoubleTree by Hilton Islantilla Beach Golf Resort is a recently renovated four-star resort on Spain’s Costa de la Luz, offering comfortable accommodation, 27 holes of golf and excellent leisure facilities close to the Atlantic coast. Surrounded by the fairways of Islantilla Golf Resort, it is particularly convenient for golfers who want to play several rounds without arranging daily transfers.
The parkland-style course was designed by Enrique Canales and Luis Recasens and is divided into three nine-hole loops. These can be combined to create different 18-hole rounds, giving returning golfers plenty of variety during their stay. The Blue Course provides the strongest test for lower-handicap players, while the Yellow Course combines water, gentle slopes and attractive sea views. The Green Course is the most forgiving of the three and works particularly well for higher-handicap golfers and mixed-ability groups.
Pine-lined fairways, lakes, changes in elevation and coastal breezes ensure careful club selection remains important. Practice facilities include a large driving range, putting greens, practice bunkers and a pitching area, while the clubhouse is only around 50 metres from the hotel.
Rooms and suites provide a comfortable place to relax after golf, while the resort’s facilities include indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a fitness centre and a wellness area with saunas and hot and cold pools. Guests can choose between buffet dining, relaxed poolside food and drinks, and indoor or outdoor dining at LaTerrazza. A seasonal shuttle connects the hotel with the beach and beach club, approximately five minutes away.
Away from the course, golfers can spend time on Islantilla’s sandy beach, explore the nearby fishing town of Isla Cristina or enjoy seafood and tapas beside the coast. The surrounding area is also well suited to walking, cycling and birdwatching, with protected wetlands and natural parks within easy reach.
For golfers seeking varied golf, comfortable resort facilities and a quieter alternative to Spain’s busier golfing regions, DoubleTree by Hilton Islantilla Beach Golf Resort is an excellent choice.

About The Area
Isla Cristina is a fantastic base for a laid-back golf holiday on Spain’s Costa de la Luz, bringing together quiet beaches, excellent seafood and several varied courses within a short drive. Located on the western edge of Andalucía, close to the Portuguese border, it feels more traditionally Spanish than many purpose-built golf resorts and is especially well suited to couples and groups who enjoy relaxed evenings by the coast.
The nearest golf is found at Islantilla Golf Resort, just a few kilometres away. Its 27 holes are divided into three nine-hole loops, allowing different course combinations across a longer stay. The fairways move through pine trees and gently changing terrain, with layouts suitable for a broad range of handicaps.
Golfers can also play the two courses at Isla Canela. The Old Course is a flat, walkable parkland layout surrounded by marshes, palms and Atlantic breezes, while Isla Canela Links follows the Guadiana River and uses wide fairways, large bunkers, wind and undulating greens to create a more open, links-inspired challenge.
Golf El Rompido is another strong addition to an Isla Cristina golf holiday. Its North and South courses provide 36 contrasting holes in peaceful natural surroundings without residential development enclosing the fairways.
Away from golf, Isla Cristina has around 12 kilometres of sandy coastline, including Playa Central, Punta del Caimán and quieter stretches backed by dunes and pine trees. The surrounding marshes and the mouth of the River Carreras are excellent for walking, birdwatching, boat trips and enjoying the area’s colourful sunsets.
The town’s fishing heritage is central to its character. Its busy fish market receives fresh catches daily, and local restaurants are known for Huelva prawns, tuna, coquinas, grilled fish and choco frito.
Faro Airport is the closest option at roughly 61 kilometres away, while Seville Airport is around 145 kilometres by road. Spring and autumn are our preferred seasons, offering warm weather, quieter beaches and comfortable conditions for playing several rounds.
