Real Club de Golf Campoamor

Dehesa de Campoamor

average rating is 4 out of 5

Real Club de Golf Campoamor is a classic Costa Blanca course that combines mature Mediterranean scenery, gentle elevation changes and a layout that rewards good course management. Located close to Orihuela Costa and only a few kilometres from the Mediterranean, it is particularly convenient for golfers staying around Campoamor, La Zenia and Cabo Roig.

The 18-hole, par-72 course measures 6,277 metres and has been welcoming golfers since 1988, when it was officially inaugurated by Juan de Borbón, Count of Barcelona. The course occupies a natural setting between two connected valleys, with low surrounding hills helping to shelter the fairways from stronger winds. Combined with the mild Costa Blanca climate, this makes Campoamor a particularly reliable option for golf throughout much of the year.

What we like about Campoamor is that it offers a traditional resort-golf experience without feeling overly manufactured. Mediterranean vegetation and established trees frame many of the holes, while the natural movement of the land creates changes in elevation and plenty of interesting angles from the tee.

At par 72, the course includes five par 5s and five par 3s, which gives the round a slightly different rhythm from many conventional layouts. The front nine builds towards the par-4 9th, rated as the course’s stroke index one, while the back nine includes several longer holes where keeping the ball in position becomes increasingly important. The closing stretch is especially interesting, with two par 5s among the final three holes giving stronger players genuine birdie opportunities while still demanding sensible course management.

Campoamor is enjoyable for a wide range of handicaps. There is enough room from many tees to make it approachable for holiday golfers, but bunkering, changes in elevation and carefully positioned greens ensure lower-handicap players cannot simply rely on distance.

Practice facilities include a driving range and two putting greens, making it easy to warm up before the round or spend some extra time working on your game. Buggies, electric and manual trolleys and golf clubs are available to hire, while changing facilities and club storage are also provided.

The substantial 2,800m² clubhouse sits around 130 metres above sea level in the centre of the course. Large windows and terraces provide views across the fairways and towards the Mediterranean, with a restaurant and café making it an excellent spot for post-round food and drinks.

For golfers staying on the southern Costa Blanca, Real Club de Golf Campoamor fits perfectly into a multi-course itinerary alongside Villamartín, Las Ramblas, Las Colinas and Lo Romero.
