La Finca Golf is the on-site course at La Finca Resort in Algorfa, on the southern Costa Blanca. The 18-hole, par-72 layout was designed by Spanish architect Pepe Gancedo and opened in August 2002. Its broad landing areas and open views encourage golfers to use the driver, but the course is not defined by width alone. Water, bunkering and a highly individual collection of greens create the decisions that separate a comfortable resort round from a genuinely good score.

The fairways are generous enough to welcome holiday golfers and mixed-handicap groups, particularly when the correct tees are chosen. Approaches demand more thought. Gancedo varied the size, depth and shape of the putting surfaces rather than repeating one formula. The seventh is large and square, often compared with an English bowls green, while the deep, circular fourteenth has become known for its wok-like form. Landing on the correct section can be just as important as finding the green.

That contrast between forgiving drives and exacting targets gives La Finca its character. Players can swing freely in places, yet still need to manage water, choose an approach angle and avoid leaving a difficult putt across pronounced contours. Stronger golfers will find opportunities to attack, while higher handicappers can use the available space and play conservatively around the main hazards. Familiarity helps, which makes a repeat round from different tees a sensible option for a shorter resort stay.

The course has hosted leading junior events, amateur circuit finals, EPD Tour qualifying and Valencian professional competition. Visitor facilities include bag drop, caddie master service, changing rooms, a pro shop, buggies, manual trolleys and club rental. There is also a driving range and golf academy for lessons or an arrival-day practice session. The clubhouse beside the eighteenth has a terrace of more than 250 square metres and serves casual food and drinks after play.

La Finca Resort’s five-star hotel, outdoor pool, spa, restaurants and sports facilities are within the same complex. That makes early starts and post-round plans straightforward, though green fees, academy sessions and equipment should still be reserved in advance. Villamartín, also operated by the resort group, provides an older tree-lined alternative for a second day.

La Finca Golf is best suited to groups who want playable warm-weather golf without sacrificing strategic interest around the greens.
