Royal Palm Golf & Country Club

Marrakech

average rating is 5 out of 5

Royal Palm Golf & Country Club is one of the standout golf experiences in Marrakech, combining beautifully presented fairways with century-old olive trees, water features and spectacular views towards the snow-capped Atlas Mountains. Set within the Fairmont Royal Palm Marrakech estate on the Route d’Amizmiz, the course feels wonderfully peaceful despite being only a short drive from the centre of Marrakech.

Designed by renowned golf architect Cabell B. Robinson, the championship layout covers around 75 hectares and plays as an 18-hole, par-72 course measuring 6,608 metres from the back tees. Robinson has made excellent use of the natural Moroccan landscape, creating a course that feels more like a huge landscaped garden than a conventional resort layout.

What we particularly like about Royal Palm is the balance between space and strategy. The fairways are generous enough to give visiting golfers confidence from the tee, but lakes, bunkering and carefully shaped landing areas continually influence the best route towards the green. Longer hitters have opportunities to be aggressive, although simply finding the fairway does not always leave the easiest approach.

Mature olive trees, palms and colourful Mediterranean planting frame the holes throughout the round, while the Atlas Mountains provide an incredible backdrop. The relatively open landscape also means the breeze can influence club selection, particularly on longer approaches where controlling trajectory becomes increasingly important.

The greens provide another major part of the challenge. Large putting surfaces give you a reasonable target, but subtle movement means finishing on the wrong section can leave some demanding first putts. We would definitely prioritise positioning over simply attacking every flag.

Practice facilities are excellent, with a large driving range, two putting greens, a chipping green and dedicated training areas. The Golf Academy offers individual and group tuition, alongside modern swing-analysis and launch-monitor technology for golfers wanting to work on their game during their stay.

The Country Club completes the experience, with a restaurant, panoramic terrace, Pro Shop, lounge and bar overlooking the course. Fitness and yoga facilities and a swimming pool add another level of comfort for golfers spending the day at the club.

Fairmont Royal Palm Marrakech sits directly alongside the golf, making this an ideal option for a luxury stay-and-play break. Marrakech itself is also close enough for evenings exploring the Medina, restaurants and souks.
For golfers wanting championship golf, outstanding scenery and a premium resort experience, Royal Palm is an easy addition to a Marrakech itinerary. Speak to our Golf Travel Experts at Hashtag Golf Travel and we can include Royal Palm Golf & Country Club within a tailor-made Morocco golf holiday.

About The Area

Marrakech is one of Morocco’s best golf holiday destinations, combining warm sunshine, dramatic Atlas Mountain views and a city full of colour, culture and atmosphere. For UK golfers, it works brilliantly as a winter-sun escape, with short-haul flight access, luxury resorts, traditional riads and a strong choice of courses close to the city.

The golf around Marrakech is excellent. Royal Golf Marrakech is one of the historic names, with its Old Course opening in 1927 and offering an 18-hole layout lined by mature trees. Assoufid Golf Club gives the destination a more modern desert-style feel, with an 18-hole, par-72 course set across naturally undulating land facing the snow-capped Atlas Mountains. Noria Golf Club adds another memorable option, with 18 holes at the foot of the Atlas and a Steve Forest design inspired by Moroccan architecture and landscape features.

Away from the fairways, Marrakech is a proper experience. The UNESCO-listed Medina of Marrakesh includes Jamaâ El Fna Square, described by UNESCO as a true open-air theatre, while the souks, gardens, rooftop restaurants, hammams and day trips into the Atlas Mountains give the holiday real depth.

For UK golfers, Marrakech is ideal for a tailor-made Morocco golf break, whether you want a luxury resort stay, a riad-and-golf city break or a multi-course itinerary. Hashtag Golf Travel can help plan the right hotels, tee times, transfers and extras so the trip feels smooth, sunny and properly memorable.
