About The Area

Worcester is a strong city-and-golf base for a UK short break, especially for golfers who want historic surroundings, riverside walks and good access to the Malvern Hills. The city sits on the River Severn and has a proper visitor-friendly centre, with Worcester Cathedral, The Commandery, Worcester City Art Gallery & Museum, Tudor House Museum and the Museum of Royal Worcester all giving golfers plenty to do between rounds.

For golf, Worcester Golf & Country Club is the main city option. Set at Boughton Park, only a few minutes from Worcester city centre, its parkland course was designed in 1927 by Dr Alister MacKenzie and measures 6,251 yards, with long narrow greens that reward accurate approach play.

Another useful local option is The Worcestershire Golf Club, established in 1879 and described by the club as the oldest golf club in Worcestershire. It welcomes visitors and society groups, making it a handy addition to a Worcester-based itinerary.

Away from the fairways, golfers can explore Worcester Cathedral, which overlooks the River Severn and includes King John’s tomb, Prince Arthur’s Chantry, St Wulfstan’s Norman Crypt, medieval cloisters and stained glass. The city also works well for relaxed post-round food, pubs, riverside walking, museums and easy day trips towards the Malvern Hills.

For Hashtag Golf Travel customers, Worcester works best as a Midlands city-and-golf weekend, a couples’ short break, or a society trip where the off-course sightseeing is genuinely worth building into the plan.
