About The Area
Woodhall Spa is one of England’s standout golf destinations and a proper “go for the golf” location. The headline is Woodhall Spa Golf Club, home to the National Golf Centre, with two courses: The Hotchkin and The Bracken. The club describes the Hotchkin as ranked 74th in the world by Golf.com, and it has also been refurbished by architect Tom Doak.
The Hotchkin is the main reason many golfers travel here. Golf Monthly ranks it 12th in the UK & Ireland Top 100 for 2025/26, highlighting its classic heathland character, strategic bunkering, heather-lined fairways and strong architectural appeal. The Bracken adds variety, giving groups a second round without needing to leave the village.
Woodhall Spa is also good fun away from the course. Kinema in the Woods is the lovely local curveball: a historic woodland cinema with outdoor screenings and a nostalgic setting. Jubilee Park adds a heated 33-metre outdoor pool, swimming sessions and open-air leisure, which is a brilliant post-round option in warmer months.
There is also a strong wartime heritage angle. Visit Lincolnshire highlights the Petwood Hotel, formerly the officers’ mess for the Dambusters, plus the Dambusters Memorial, Cottage Museum and peaceful village walks.
For Hashtag Golf Travel customers, Woodhall Spa is ideal for a serious golf break, society trip or bucket-list English golf weekend. It is quieter than many resort towns, but that is the charm: great golf, village character, history, woodland walks and a few quirky extras.
