Whittlebury Park Golf Club

Towcester

average rating is 4 out of 5

Whittlebury Park Golf Club offers an impressive 36 holes arranged across four distinctive nine-hole loops, giving visiting golfers the freedom to create different 18-hole combinations throughout their stay. Golf on the Whittlebury estate dates back to 1905, with the modern complex redeveloped in 1991 across rolling Northamptonshire parkland, centuries-old oak trees and remnants of the historic Whittlewood Forest.

The four loops each have their own personality. The 1905 Course is traditional parkland golf, with mature oaks, lakes and undulating greens rewarding careful positioning. Royal Whittlewood winds through the ancient forest, introducing doglegs and approaches played across water, while the Grand Prix Course is the longest of the four and runs alongside Silverstone Circuit, combining gently rolling terrain with lakes, wildlife areas and two notable par threes. The shorter Wedgewood Course mixes testing par threes with strategic par fours, making it useful both for an additional nine holes and for sharpening the short game.

Water is an important part of Whittlebury’s character, with 12 lakes spread across the wider golf landscape. Combined with mature woodland and changes in elevation, this means choosing the correct line and avoiding trouble can be more important than simply hitting driver at every opportunity.

Practice facilities are extensive, including a 300-yard Toptracer driving range, dedicated short-game area, Pro Shop and specialist Callaway Fitting Centre using TrackMan technology. The spacious Atrium Clubhouse provides food, drinks and live sport after the round.

With four interchangeable courses and hotel, spa and dining facilities all within the same estate, Whittlebury Park is particularly well suited to Northamptonshire golf breaks, societies and multi-round group trips, where golfers can enjoy plenty of variety without travelling between venues.

About The Area

Towcester is a very useful Northamptonshire golf base, especially for groups who want golf, motorsport and countryside in one trip. The standout golf option is Whittlebury Park, near Towcester, which offers 36 holes across four interchangeable 9-hole loops, plus a Toptracer driving range and practice facilities. It is one of the stronger stay-and-play style choices in the area because the golf, hotel, spa and food options are all built around one site.

The big non-golf hook is Silverstone, just outside Towcester. Silverstone Museum focuses on F1, motor racing and motorsport history, with interactive exhibitions, simulators and events, while Silverstone Circuit itself is promoted as the home of the British Grand Prix and MotoGP events. That makes Towcester a cracking choice for golf groups where a motorsport day would go down well.

There is more locally too. Towcester Racecourse is a multi-purpose racing and entertainment venue set in hundreds of acres of Northamptonshire countryside, while the town itself has market-town character and useful access to Northampton, Milton Keynes and the wider county.

For Hashtag Golf Travel customers, Towcester works best as a golf-and-motorsport break, a society trip, or a relaxed Northamptonshire stay with Whittlebury Park, Silverstone and countryside activities built around the golf.
