Set within 276 acres of rolling Rutland countryside near Oakham, Greetham Valley Golf Club is a substantial golf resort offering two 18-hole championship courses and a nine-hole Academy Course. Lakes, streams, mature woodland and natural changes in elevation run throughout the estate, creating three contrasting layouts and making Greetham Valley particularly well suited to golf breaks where groups want more than one course to play.

The Lakes Course provides the longer and more demanding of the two main layouts. Stretching to more than 6,700 yards and playing to a par of 72, it combines generous fairways with strategically positioned bunkers, rolling greens and plenty of water. Longer hitters may find opportunities to attack, but the numerous lakes mean accuracy and careful course management remain important throughout the round.

Water is particularly influential on the par threes. One of the standout holes is the 10th, an uphill par three played across water towards a green protected by bunkers and rough. The 18th provides another memorable challenge, with a dogleg fairway followed by an approach to a downhill green surrounded by water directly in front of the clubhouse.

The Valley Course offers a different style of golf. Playing to a par of 68, it is shorter than the Lakes but uses its undulating terrain, tree-lined fairways and elevation changes to create a strategic test. The layout features six par threes alongside several longer holes, ensuring that golfers need to use a broad selection of clubs during the round.

Among its highlights is the 16th, a par three played through the trees towards a challenging three-tier green. The following 17th sits down in the valley with woodland on one side, a brook on the other and water close to the green, providing one of the prettiest and most testing sections of the course.

For beginners or golfers looking for a quicker round, the nine-hole Academy Course consists entirely of par-three holes and provides an accessible environment for developing the short game.

Practice facilities have also been modernised with the Strike Shack, a 16-bay covered driving range powered by Toptracer technology. Golfers can track shots, practise with detailed feedback or use interactive games, while PGA coaching is available for individuals and groups.

With 36 holes of championship golf, a nine-hole Academy Course and modern practice facilities, Greetham Valley Golf Club offers plenty of variety for a Rutland golf break, particularly for groups looking to play several rounds without travelling between venues.
