Barnham Broom
Norwich
Barnham Broom is a privately owned four-star country hotel, spa and golf resort set within 300 acres of Norfolk countryside, approximately ten miles west of Norwich. Its combination of comfortable accommodation, two on-site golf courses and extensive leisure facilities makes it particularly suitable for couples, small groups and golf societies.
The hotel has 46 contemporary bedrooms and suites, ranging from practical Standard and Superior Rooms to larger Junior, Hill and Valley Suites. Double and twin configurations are available, which is helpful for travelling golfers. Rooms include air conditioning, complimentary Wi-Fi, tea and coffee facilities, bottled water and modern en-suite bathrooms. Guests requiring step-free access should discuss their needs with the hotel before booking, as the building’s layout means every bedroom involves at least two steps.
Dining centres on the Brasserie, where seasonally inspired dishes use locally sourced ingredients in a relaxed but polished setting. The adjoining lounge and terrace are suitable for drinks, coffee and afternoon tea, while the Sports Bar provides a more informal option for post-round food and conversation.
The Spa at Barnham Broom has five treatment rooms, including a couples’ suite, and offers massages, facials and tailored spa experiences. Hotel guests can also use The Edge Health and Fitness Club, which features an 11-metre indoor pool, sauna, steam room, bubble pool and modern gym. Tennis and squash provide additional options for active guests.
Golf remains an important part of the stay. The resort has two contrasting 18-hole courses: the tree-lined, strategic Pennink Course and the more open Steel Course, formerly known as the Valley and Hill courses respectively. Practice facilities, PGA tuition and golf-break packages are also available.
Barnham Broom works especially well for a self-contained Norfolk golf break, while its proximity to Norwich leaves scope for additional restaurants, shopping and sightseeing.

About The Area
Wymondham is a charming Norfolk market-town base for a relaxed UK golf break, especially for golfers who want history, countryside and easy access to Norwich without staying in the city. The town has medieval streets, independent shops, cafés and the impressive Wymondham Abbey, giving it more character than a simple overnight stop. Its self-guided heritage trail takes around 60–90 minutes, starting from the Market Cross, and links together the Abbey, medieval streets, Wymondham Abbey Station and green spaces such as Toll’s Meadow and The Lizard.
For golf, Wymondham works best as a base for nearby Norfolk courses. Barnham Broom is one of the strongest local options, with the Steel and Pennink courses, practice facilities, grass driving range, academy holes and short-game areas. It offers 36 holes across two courses in summer, making it useful for a multi-round short break.
Another handy option is Bawburgh Golf Club, set in Norfolk countryside, with both 18-hole and 9-hole golf available. It gives visitors a more flexible extra round, especially for mixed-ability groups or golfers who want something a little less formal than a full resort day.
Away from the course, Wymondham has a lovely low-key appeal. The town has a market tradition dating back to a charter issued by King John in 1204, with a weekly Friday market still held today. It also has access to the Mid Norfolk Railway via Wymondham Abbey Station, giving the area a nice heritage-travel angle.
For Hashtag Golf Travel customers, Wymondham suits a peaceful Norfolk golf weekend, a Norwich-area short break, or a touring base for playing courses around Norfolk. It is not a big resort destination, but for market-town charm, nearby golf and easy access to Norwich Airport, it works very neatly.
