Belton Woods Golf Club

Grantham

average rating is 4 out of 5

Belton Woods Golf Club offers 36 holes of parkland golf within a 475-acre resort estate near Grantham. Its two contrasting courses, extensive practice facilities and adjoining hotel make it a practical choice for societies and multi-round golf breaks in Lincolnshire.

The par-72 Lakes Course is the more demanding of the two layouts. As its name suggests, water plays a prominent role, influencing eight holes and guarding several approaches. Long holes, relatively tight fairways and strategically positioned bunkers make careful course management essential. The standout 9th extends beyond 600 yards from the back tee, while water near the green can punish anyone attempting to force the issue. The course has previously hosted senior and club-professional tournaments.

The par-73 Woods Course provides a different challenge. Its narrower, tree-lined fairways run through more undulating ground, with natural hazards and contoured greens rewarding accuracy and thoughtful positioning. Although generally considered the more forgiving of the two courses, it remains an engaging test for both established players and improving golfers.

Belton Woods has a floodlit TrackMan driving range, putting and chipping areas and access to PGA professional tuition. Golf buggies can be hired, while the on-site shop stocks equipment, clothing and accessories. Following a round, golfers can continue to the Claret Jug clubhouse bar for food, drinks and live sport.

The adjoining Belton Woods Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort provides bedrooms, restaurants and health-club facilities within the same estate. This makes it easy to combine both courses over one or two nights without arranging additional transport. Golfers travelling with non-playing partners also have access to a swimming pool, spa treatments and nearby attractions including Belton House.

The resort lies just north of Grantham and close to the A1. Grantham railway station is approximately three miles away and has direct services from London King’s Cross.
