Gatton Manor is set within 200 acres of Surrey countryside near Ockley, surrounded by woodland, lakes, streams and the rolling landscape of the Surrey Hills. For golfers, the estate is centred around its mature 18-hole championship course, with a peaceful rural setting that feels surprisingly removed from London despite being within easy reach of Gatwick Airport.

There is an important point to flag before adding Gatton Manor to the website as an accommodation product: the original hotel closed in 2022 and is not currently operating as a bookable hotel. The golf course and associated facilities remain operational while the estate goes through a period of redevelopment.

Plans approved in 2026 will eventually replace the former hotel with a new 81-bedroom luxury hotel, complete with two restaurants, a spa, indoor and outdoor swimming facilities, gym and treatment areas. However, those facilities are not yet open. The redevelopment will also ultimately result in the closure and rewilding of the existing golf course, although no final closure date had been announced when the plans were reported in May 2026.

For now, golfers can still enjoy Gatton Manor's tree-lined championship course, originally designed by Commander John D. Harris, where streams, lakes and mature woodland feature prominently throughout the round.
