Delta Hotels by Breadsall Priory Golf Club

Derby

average rating is 4 out of 5

Delta Hotels by Breadsall Priory Golf Club offers 36 holes of parkland golf within 300 acres of Derbyshire countryside near Derby. Its two 18-hole courses provide contrasting challenges, making the venue particularly well suited to society weekends and multi-round golf breaks.

The Championship Priory Course is the older and more traditional of the two layouts. Designed by David Cox, it measures approximately 6,054 yards and plays to a par of 70. The course moves through mature parkland surrounding the historic Breadsall Priory building, with tree-lined fairways, changes in elevation and water influencing the round.

Although not especially long by modern standards, the Priory rewards accuracy and thoughtful positioning. Its smaller targets and established trees can quickly punish misplaced drives. The par-three 17th is one of its most memorable holes, played from an elevated tee towards a generous green protected by bunkers and a ditch beyond.

The Moorland Course was designed by respected golf architect Donald Steel. Measuring approximately 6,100 yards and also playing to a par of 70, it has a more open, heathland-style character and is known for its year-round playability. Wider views create a different atmosphere from the Priory, but strategic trees, bunkering and longer holes ensure it remains a proper challenge.

A notable hole on the Moorland is the par-four 12th, where tall trees occupy the centre of the landing area and force golfers to choose their preferred route from the tee.

Practice facilities include a floodlit driving range, putting green and golf simulator. A well-stocked golf shop is also available. The on-site hotel, restaurants, spa and leisure club allow golfers to play both courses without needing transfers between rounds.

About The Area

Uttoxeter is a handy Staffordshire base for a relaxed UK golf break, especially for golfers who want countryside, racing, theme-park fun and easy Midlands access. The main local option is Uttoxeter Golf Club, a scenic parkland course with small greens, tight lines and views across the Dove Valley towards Staffordshire and Derbyshire. It is a good fit for golfers who enjoy plotting their way round rather than just hitting driver everywhere.

For another local round, The Manor Golf Club at Kingstone is close by and offers a scenic parkland course with a mix of short par 3s and longer par 5s, making it useful for societies and mixed-ability groups.

Off the course, Uttoxeter has a few strong add-ons. Uttoxeter Racecourse is one of the town’s best-known landmarks and is within walking distance of the town centre, while Alton Towers Resort is around 10 miles / 16 km away, giving groups an easy theme-park, waterpark or crazy-golf day alongside the proper golf.

For Hashtag Golf Travel customers, Uttoxeter works best as a Staffordshire golf weekend, a society trip, or a golf-and-activities break with racing, Alton Towers and countryside built in.
