La Cana Golf Club
Punta Cana
La Cana Golf Club is a fantastic choice for UK golfers looking to add scenic Caribbean golf to a Punta Cana holiday. Set within Puntacana Resort & Club, close to Punta Cana International Airport, the course is easy to build into a Dominican Republic golf break without long transfers once you arrive.
Designed by P.B. Dye, La Cana offers 27 holes across three 9-hole loops: Tortuga, Hacienda and Arrecife. That gives golfers good variety during a stay, whether you want a relaxed holiday round or a more complete golf itinerary. The course is best known for its coastal setting, with 14 holes offering Caribbean Sea views and four holes playing right beside the water.
For golfers, La Cana is enjoyable rather than intimidating, but it still asks for sensible course management. Wide fairways make it welcoming for holiday players, while sea breezes, bunkers, waste areas, water features and exposed coastal holes keep better golfers interested. It was also the first course in the Caribbean to use paspalum grass, which can be irrigated with seawater, linking the course nicely to Puntacana Resort’s wider environmental approach.
La Cana works brilliantly as part of a Punta Cana golf holiday, especially when paired with nearby courses such as Corales or Punta Espada. Add in beach resorts, warm weather, spa time and relaxed Caribbean evenings, and it becomes a strong option for golfers who want sunshine, scenery and memorable golf without making the whole trip feel too serious.

About The Area
Punta Cana is one of the Caribbean’s most appealing golf holiday destinations, combining white-sand beaches, luxury resorts, lively nightlife and some seriously memorable coastal golf. Set on the eastern tip of the Dominican Republic, it is known for more than 50 km of beaches and turquoise water, with Bávaro, Macao and Juanillo among the best-known spots. It is also easy for UK golfers, with Punta Cana International Airport serving the main resort area.
The golf is a huge part of the draw. Punta Espada Golf Club in Cap Cana is a Jack Nicklaus Signature course with eight holes playing along or over the sea, giving it that proper “bucket-list round” feel. Puntacana Resort also offers 45 holes across Corales and La Cana, including Tom Fazio’s dramatic Corales layout with six oceanfront holes, rocky cliffs, coral reefs and big Caribbean views. La Cana, designed by P. B. Dye, adds 27 holes with 14 ocean-view holes across Tortuga, Arrecife and Hacienda.
Away from the fairways, Punta Cana is ideal for beach days, catamaran trips to Saona Island, snorkelling, water sports, Hoyo Azul, Ojos Indígenas, buggy tours, restaurants and resort-style evenings.
For UK golfers, Punta Cana works brilliantly as a tailor-made Dominican Republic golf holiday, whether you want all-inclusive comfort, a luxury Cap Cana stay or a multi-course Caribbean itinerary.
