Golfclub Moosburg Pörtschach
Stallhofen
Golfclub Moosburg Pörtschach is a great choice for an Austria golf holiday, especially for golfers who want to enjoy Carinthia’s lake scenery without being far from Klagenfurt or Lake Wörthersee. Set on a picturesque plateau in the “Schwarzes Moos” nature area, just a short distance from Wörthersee, the club offers a peaceful parkland setting with easy access to nearby lake towns, hotels and restaurants.
The venue has both an 18-hole course and a 9-hole course, making it useful for proper rounds, relaxed extra golf or mixed-ability groups. The main 18-hole layout is one of the longer courses in Carinthia, with Golf Austria listing it at 6,011 metres, par 72, and highlighting its fair but strategic design. Obstacles are placed to make stronger players think carefully, while still giving the average holiday golfer a fair chance to enjoy the round.
For travelling golfers, Moosburg Pörtschach works particularly well as part of a Carinthia golf itinerary. It can be paired with nearby courses such as Klagenfurt-Seltenheim, Dellach and Schloss Finkenstein, while Lake Wörthersee adds swimming, boat trips, lakeside dining and relaxed Austrian holiday charm away from the course.
With Klagenfurt Airport only around 14km away, it is also very easy to build into a short break. Hashtag Golf Travel can help arrange the right flights, hotels, transfers and tee times, creating a smooth Austrian golf holiday with lake scenery, mountain views and plenty of golfing variety.

About The Area
Stallhofen is a quiet Styrian countryside base, best suited to golfers who want a relaxed rural stay close to Graz rather than a full resort-style destination. Set in western Styria, it sits within the wider Lipizzanerheimat region, known for rolling hills, culture, nature, regional food and the famous Lipizzaner horse heritage around Piber.
For golf, Stallhofen works best as a base for nearby Styrian courses. Golf Club Erzherzog Johann in Maria Lankowitz is one of the strongest options, with an 18-hole course set among the gentle hills of the Lipizzaner homeland, plus driving range and short-game practice areas. Golfclub Murhof near Frohnleiten is another excellent choice, offering a well-regarded 18-hole course with strong practice facilities and a reputation as one of Austria’s notable golf venues.
Away from the fairways, Stallhofen has a few unusual local touches. The Ambrosi Museum celebrates Austrian sculptor and poet Gustinus Ambrosi, who spent his later years in Stallhofen, while the local Krampus cave and museum gives the village a distinctive cultural angle. Graz is also close enough for a city day, with UNESCO-listed old-town charm, restaurants and cultural sights.
For Hashtag Golf Travel customers, Stallhofen is best suited to a peaceful Styria golf escape, a Graz-area countryside stay, or part of a wider Austria itinerary combining golf, wine, culture and rural scenery. It is not the obvious choice for nightlife or luxury resort golf, but for quiet charm and easy access to several regional courses, it has a useful place in the programme.
