Golf & Country Club de Maison Blanche

Jura Mountains

average rating is 4 out of 5

Set at the foot of the Jura mountains, just across the border from Geneva, Golf & Country Club de Maison Blanche offers a scenic and refined golf experience with views towards Mont Blanc. Although located in France, its proximity to Geneva makes it a strong option for Lake Geneva and Swiss Riviera golf itineraries.

The club features 27 holes, made up of the main 18-hole Les Sources Course and the 9-hole Allondon Course. Les Sources is the championship layout, measuring around 6,136 metres from the back tees and playing to a par 72. Designed by Olivier Dongradi and Peter Harradine, it uses undulating terrain, natural woodland, water hazards and strategic bunkering to create a thoughtful test.

Fairways are reasonably generous in places, but wayward shots can quickly find trees, rough or water, so accuracy still matters. The course has a natural, members’ club feel rather than a resort-style atmosphere, making it best suited to golfers who enjoy traditional layouts, quiet surroundings and proper course management.

Its location close to Geneva Airport makes Maison Blanche especially useful for arrival or departure rounds, or as part of a wider Geneva, Lausanne and Lake Geneva golf holiday.

About The Area

The Jura Mountains offer a quieter, more nature-led Swiss golf experience, ideal for golfers who prefer peaceful surroundings over busy resort-style destinations. Stretching across northwestern Switzerland and into eastern France, the Jura landscape is known for wooded pastures, rolling hills, fir forests and cooler upland air — a lovely contrast to Switzerland’s more dramatic Alpine regions.
The standout golf venue is Golf Club Les Bois, located in the Franches-Montagnes area at around 1,000 metres above sea level. Switzerland Tourism describes it as an 18-hole course set in a unique landscape of wooded pastures, with a clubhouse created from an old Jura farmhouse overlooking the 18th hole and nearby ponds. Jura & Three-Lakes tourism also highlights the course as being nestled in a pristine Franches-Montagnes landscape, giving it a calm, rural character that feels very different from city or lake-based Swiss golf.
Golf here is more about rhythm, accuracy and enjoying the setting than overpowering the course. The altitude helps keep conditions pleasant in summer, and the best time to visit is usually from late spring to early autumn, especially May to September, when the weather is milder and the countryside is at its greenest.
Off the course, the Jura Mountains are excellent for slow, scenic travel. The wider Jura & Three-Lakes area is known for unspoilt nature, historic towns, lakes, walking routes and peaceful countryside escapes. Golfers can combine rounds with visits to Neuchâtel, Biel/Bienne, Murten or the Franches-Montagnes, where meadows, forests and traditional villages give the region a very authentic Swiss feel.
For golfers seeking calm surroundings, cooler summer conditions and a less obvious alternative to Switzerland’s big-name mountain resorts, the Jura Mountains deliver a peaceful, scenic and quietly memorable golf escape.
