About The Area

Wisbech is a characterful Fenland market town that works best as a quiet, good-value UK golf break rather than a big resort destination. Set on the River Nene, it has Georgian architecture, riverside streets, local heritage and easy access to the flat countryside of the Fens. It is often described as the “Capital of the Fens”, which gives the town a useful identity for travellers looking for something different from the usual coastal or city golf base.

The main golf option is Tydd St Giles Golf & Country Club, just outside Wisbech on the Lincolnshire/Cambridgeshire border. It has an 18-hole, par-70 golf course, clubhouse and leisure facilities, making it the most natural local choice for a simple golf-focused stay. For extra variety, Eagles Golf Centre near Tilney All Saints offers a 9-hole course, par-3 course, driving range and practice area, while March Golf Club gives another nearby 9-hole parkland option.

Away from golf, Wisbech has more heritage than you might expect. Peckover House is a National Trust Georgian townhouse on the River Nene with a walled garden, while Visit Wisbech also highlights Wisbech & Fenland Museum, Elgood’s Brewery and the town’s historic architecture.

For Hashtag Golf Travel customers, Wisbech is best suited to a peaceful Fenland golf weekend, a society trip, or a value-led East Anglia itinerary combining Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Lincolnshire courses. It is not flashy, but for quiet golf, heritage and countryside, it has a neat place in the programme.
