Quartier Latin Hotel

Marche-en-Famenne

average rating is 4 out of 5

Set in the heart of Marche-en-Famenne in the Belgian Ardennes, Quartier Latin Hotel is a charming four-star hotel with a strong sense of character. The property is housed within a listed 18th-century Jesuit church, blending historic architecture with modern hotel facilities.

The hotel offers around 70 rooms, alongside a restaurant, spa, terrace and event spaces, making it a comfortable base for a relaxed Belgium golf break. Its town-centre location gives guests easy access to local restaurants, bars and the surrounding Ardennes countryside, while still feeling peaceful and refined.

For golfers, Quartier Latin works well as a base for exploring courses across southern Belgium, the Ardennes and the wider Wallonia region. It is best suited to travellers who want a more characterful hotel stay rather than a standard chain property, with the bonus of spa facilities and a good restaurant after a day on the course.

It is also well placed for combining golf with sightseeing, food, walking routes and historic towns such as Durbuy, Rochefort and Dinant.

About The Area

Marche-en-Famenne is a charming Walloon town on the edge of the Belgian Ardennes, making it a useful base for golfers who want countryside, character and easy access to some of the region’s stronger courses. It is not a big resort town, but it works well for a relaxed golf break with good food, green scenery and plenty of outdoor options nearby. Visit Marche describes the town as a “city with character” in the heart of nature, with an artistic spirit and plenty of charm.

The main golf draw nearby is Five Nations Méan, between Marche, Liège and Namur. It is an 18-hole, par-72 course designed by Gary Player in 1990, set across undulating Ardennes countryside with a large plateau, wooded valley and competitive playing situations. The course covers around 120 hectares and is known for its dramatic changes in elevation, so it is a proper test physically and technically.

For extra variety, Royal Golf Club du Château Royal d’Ardenne in Houyet is another strong regional option. The club has an 18-hole course set in the park of the former Château Royal d’Ardenne estate, giving it a historic, countryside feel and a different style of round from Five Nations.

Golf around Marche-en-Famenne is best from April to October, with late spring and early autumn usually giving the nicest mix of course condition, comfortable temperatures and quieter tee times.

Off the course, Marche-en-Famenne is great for slow exploring. The pedestrian-friendly centre has pleasant streets, courtyards, 18th-century architecture, public art and a relaxed local feel. The surrounding Famenne-Ardenne area is ideal for walking, cycling, forests, caves, villages and day trips towards Durbuy, Rochefort or the Lesse Valley.

For golfers seeking scenic Ardennes golf, a calm Walloon town base and easy access to nature, food and culture, Marche-en-Famenne is a quietly rewarding Belgian golf destination.
