Golf Club D'Hulencourt
Genappe
Set in Vieux-Genappe in Walloon Brabant, just south of Waterloo and within easy reach of Brussels, Golf Club d’Hulencourt is a refined Belgian golf venue with a peaceful countryside feel. The club sits on a historic estate and offers a strong mix of championship golf, practice facilities and relaxed clubhouse hospitality, making it a useful addition to a Brussels, Waterloo or Wallonia golf itinerary.
The main course, Le Vallon, is an 18-hole, par-72 layout designed by Jean-Manuel Rossi and opened in 1988. It is often described as an inland links-style course, with open fairways, natural movement, bunkering, water hazards and wind all playing a part. The course is long enough to test strong golfers, with published back-tee distances around 6,686–6,690 metres, but it remains playable from forward tees for a wider range of handicaps.
A major renovation project led by Frank Pont and Hendrik Hilgert of Infinite Variety Golf Design updated bunkers, tee areas and green surrounds, adding more strategy and visual interest to the layout. The result is a course where placement matters, particularly around the greens and on the more exposed holes.
The club also has Le Verger, a shorter 9-hole course that works well for beginners, warm-up rounds or extra golf after the main course. Facilities include a clubhouse, restaurant, shop, parking, changing rooms and practice options.
For UK golfers, Hulencourt works particularly well as part of a Belgium short break, pairing naturally with nearby courses such as Royal Waterloo, L’Empereur and Château de la Tournette, with Brussels and Waterloo both close enough for hotels, restaurants and sightseeing.

About The Area
Genappe is a strong little base for a Belgium golf break, especially for golfers who want countryside, history and a few quality courses close together. Sitting in Walloon Brabant, south of Brussels, it gives you a quieter stay than the capital while still keeping travel fairly simple for UK golfers flying into Charleroi or Brussels.
Golf is the main reason Genappe works well. Golf de l’Empereur is actually in Ways, within Genappe, and offers a peaceful country-club setting close to Waterloo, with an 18-hole and 9-hole layout. Hulencourt Golf Club is also in Genappe and has both 18-hole and 9-hole golf, making the area surprisingly well set up for a short golf itinerary. Nearby Golf de Pierpont adds another excellent option, with an 18-hole par-72 course and a compact 9-hole course set around a historic farm.
Away from the fairways, Genappe has plenty of easy extras. Napoleon’s Last Headquarters at Ferme du Caillou is nearby, with walking and cycling routes through the countryside, while the wider Waterloo battlefield area gives the trip a proper historical angle. For something quieter, the Hez woodlands offer nature trails near Villers-la-Ville Abbey.
For UK travellers, Genappe is best suited to a short Belgium golf escape or a stop within a wider Brussels, Waterloo and Walloon Brabant itinerary. It is not a big resort-style destination, but that is part of the appeal: good golf, peaceful surroundings and easy access from the airport.
