Sandals Royal Bahamian
Nassau
Sandals Royal Bahamian is a luxury adults-only, all-inclusive resort in Nassau, ideal for couples who want a Bahamas golf holiday with plenty of beach time between rounds. Set on Cable Beach and around 15 minutes from Lynden Pindling International Airport, it is a straightforward choice for UK travellers once you have arrived in Nassau, with Sandals including airport transfers for guests.
This is not a golf-on-site resort, but it works well as a relaxed base for playing some of Nassau’s best courses. Nearby Royal Blue at Baha Mar is the standout option: a Jack Nicklaus Signature course ranked number one in The Bahamas by Golfweek’s 2025 list, with 18 holes set across changing terrain, water, limestone features and tropical scenery. For another memorable round, Ocean Club Golf Course on Paradise Island offers an 18-hole, par-72 Tom Weiskopf design stretching over 7,100 yards, with Atlantic Ocean views, Nassau Harbour scenery and crosswinds that keep the round interesting.
Back at Sandals Royal Bahamian, the appeal is effortless Caribbean relaxation. Guests can enjoy 10 restaurants, pools, scuba diving, watersports, spa treatments and access to Sandals’ private offshore island.
For UK golfers, this is best suited to a romantic Bahamas escape where golf is part of the holiday rather than the whole holiday: sunshine, sea, all-inclusive comfort and a couple of quality Nassau rounds mixed in.

About The Area
Grand Bahama is one of the Bahamas’ most accessible island escapes, combining Caribbean beaches, marina life, nature reserves and a relaxed resort feel. It is less hectic than Nassau, which makes it a good fit for golfers who want warm-weather golf alongside beaches, boat trips and plenty of downtime.
The main golf venue is The Reef Course at Grand Lucayan in Freeport. The Bahamas’ official tourism site describes it as a Robert Trent Jones Jr. championship course and notes that it has previously been named among the world’s Top 100 courses. The layout is resort-style rather than overly severe, with open fairways, water features and coastal breezes adding interest for a range of handicaps. That said, I’d recommend checking current course condition and availability before packaging it, as recent visitor feedback has been mixed and the Grand Lucayan site has had periods offline.
Off the course, Grand Bahama is very easy to enjoy. Port Lucaya Marketplace is the island’s main dining and evening hub, with restaurants, bars, seafood vendors, live Bahamian music and shops. Nature is a huge part of the appeal too. Lucayan National Park protects one of the world’s longest charted underwater cave systems, along with mangroves, pine forest, coral reef environments and Gold Rock Beach, one of the island’s standout stretches of sand.
The best time to visit is generally from November to April, when the weather is warmer, drier and more comfortable for golf and beach days.
For golfers seeking a relaxed Caribbean escape with resort golf, beaches, boating, snorkelling and nature experiences, Grand Bahama is a strong island option — especially when used as a wider holiday destination rather than a golf-only trip.
