Royal Golf Club of Belgium
Flemish Brabant
Koninklijke Golf Club van België, also known as Royal Golf Club of Belgium or Ravenstein, is one of Belgium’s most historic and prestigious golf clubs. Set in Tervuren, just outside Brussels, it offers a peaceful, wooded setting while staying incredibly practical for a Belgium golf holiday, with Brussels Airport only around 12km away.
The club dates back to 1906 and was founded by King Leopold II, giving it a rare sense of heritage. Its clubhouse is based around the historic Ravenstein Manor Farm, while the estate’s variety of trees remains one of the club’s most distinctive features.
The main Arboretum Course, previously known as the Old Course, is an 18-hole, par-73 layout originally designed by Seymour Dunn in 1905 and later influenced by Tom Simpson in 1928. It is a classic parkland course, with mature trees, natural movement and a strategic feel that rewards accuracy, patience and tidy approach play. This is not a course to simply overpower; it is one where placement and smart decisions matter.
The shorter Parc Course adds extra flexibility, offering a 9-hole, par-32 layout designed by Philip Mackenzie Ross in 1951. It is ideal for a relaxed extra round, warm-up golf or mixed-ability groups.
For a Belgium golf holiday, Koninklijke Golf Club van België works brilliantly as part of a Brussels-based itinerary, pairing well with Royal Waterloo, Royal Latem and other courses around Flemish Brabant and Wallonia. Hashtag Golf Travel can help arrange the right flights, hotels, transfers and tee times, creating a smooth Belgium golf break with real heritage and city-break appeal.

About The Area
Flemish Brabant is a very handy Belgium golf-holiday region, especially for golfers who want easy airport access, Brussels nearby and a good mix of city, countryside and parkland golf. It surrounds Brussels and includes key bases such as Leuven, Tervuren, Kampenhout, Melsbroek and Tielt-Winge, so it works well for short breaks, business-and-golf trips, or a wider Belgium itinerary.
Travel is one of the big advantages. Brussels Airport is in Zaventem, within Flemish Brabant, and Visit Leuven lists the airport at around 28 km from Leuven, with direct trains taking around 15 minutes. Brussels South Charleroi Airport is another option, though it is further away at around 90 km from Leuven.
Golf choice is strong and nicely spread out. Royal Golf Club of Belgium in Tervuren is one of the region’s most established names, with Arboretum and Parc course options listed by the club. Golfclub Kampenhout offers an 18-hole championship course, three practice holes and a 65-hectare setting around the neoclassical Castle of Wilder. Brabantse Golf in Melsbroek is another useful choice close to Brussels Airport, with its course, driving range, putting green and chipping green listed as part of the club’s facilities. Further east, Winge Golf & Country Club offers an 18-hole championship course on 70 hectares, plus a compact course, in the Hageland countryside.
Away from the fairways, Flemish Brabant has plenty for non-golf time. Leuven brings old-town charm, the Grote Markt, Great Beguinage, University Library, Park Abbey and a lively food-and-drink scene. Tervuren, the Sonian Forest, Meise Botanic Garden, Hallerbos and the wider Flanders cycling culture all add easy day-trip appeal. Visit Flanders also highlights the region’s strength for heritage, food, cycling and compact city-hopping.
For Hashtag Golf Travel customers, Flemish Brabant works best as a short Belgium golf escape, a Brussels-area golf weekend, or a smart stop within a wider Flanders itinerary. It is not a beach or resort-style destination, but for airport convenience, good course variety and easy culture between rounds, it is a very practical option.
